Picayune, MS funk-hop band New Rebel Family were truly
representing Mississippi as they performed live on the main stage on Sunday.
Thanks to
a connection from our camp site host Grant Ingram – we were able to get in
touch with lead rapper Jeremy Meeks so we could sit down with the whole group
and discuss collaboration, community and raising your groups profile from a Mississippi standpoint. In true
Mississippi fashion, they brought along their boy Absolute, another Picayune,
MS rapper to join us in the conversation.
They made their way to their performance at this years
Voodoo Experience by winning the New Orleans radio station B97 B-the-1 contest.
It was great to hear a chorus of “6-0-1” coming from the Le Ritual stage this
year.
